Country:

South Africa

Education:
  • BA in Communication and a BA (Hons) in Linguistics in South Africa, a certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language in 2019 and recently completed my International Postgraduate Certificate in Education at the University of Derby in the United Kingdom
Experience:

Four years ago, I impulsively took a gap year from my position as editor-in-chief of a newspaper in Johannesburg, South Africa. I thought I’d dabble with teaching preschool pupils in Moscow. I soon realised I have reached the point of no return – I was hooked to the vibrant city life and the exhilarating experience of teaching English. Accordingly, I started studying online for my International Postgraduate Certificate in Education at the University of Derby in the United Kingdom, which I obtained in January 2023. I also have a BA in Communication and a BA (Hons) in Linguistics and a certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. Although I have been teaching pupils aged three to six until recently, I am delighted to teach English as a second language in Upper Primary and Secondary this year. The school newspaper I started with my colleague, Marina Shuraeva, has also kicked off with a bang.

Fun fact: When I was 19, I fell from a 130 m cliff – and I’m still here to brag about it!
